Nuclear Power Generation Seminar in Indonesia

      

A nuclear seminar entitled “Prospects of Nuclear Electric Power in Indonesia” was held in March 18, 2010 at Jakarta, Indonesia under the co-sponsorship of METI, Japan and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and the Ministry of Research and Technology (RISTEK) of Indonesia Following the opening addresses by the Minister of RISTEK of Indonesia and the Ambassador of Japan, the readiness of nuclear power introduction was presented by the Chairman of National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) and by the Chairman of Nuclear Energy Regulatory Commission (BAPETEN) of Indonesia. From Japan side, a presentation entitled “Experience of Japan for Nuclear Energy Development in Indonesia” was presented by METI and then other experts had presentations such as “Establishment of Nuclear Safety Technology”, ”Japanese Seismic Safety Technology”, ”Most Advanced LWR in Japan” and “Nuclear Fuel Market and Source Supply of Nuclear Fuel.” After the Seminar, some Indonesian local press expressed an article to promote nuclear power development more positively with quotation from the lecturer. It is thus believed that the necessity of nuclear power and the excellence of Japanese nuclear technology are deeply recognized through this seminar.
