Let me take this opportunity to express my excitement about joining JAIF International Cooperation Center (JICC). I have just succeeded Mr. Shiro Arai as president of JICC and would like to extend my greeting to everyone associated with JICC activities.
Established in 2009 aiming at becoming the one-stop contact point for nuclear power newcomer countries, JICC has made every effort to meet the demands of those countries, assisting in implementing a variety of cooperative activities such as human resource development (HRD) and safety improvement.
In response to the accident of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, JICC has been trying to provide the latest and most precise information possible, and to widely share the valuable lessons learned from the accident with concerned countries.
Lately, JICC has also been actively engaged in playing a role of secretariat of sub-WG for nuclear HRD programs in newcomer countries under the Japan Nuclear Human Resource Development Network (JN-HRD.Net), and organizing “Training Courses on Nuclear Power Infrastructure Development” in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Even after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, trust and expectations towards Japanese technology, especially elements that contribute to improvement in nuclear safety and emergency response, remain very high. Grasping well what emerging countries need and expect out of Japan, and cooperating closely with domestic and international organizations such as the IAEA, JICC will continue to move forward by making advancements in our activities to fulfill their trust and expectations. We would be grateful for your continued support and cooperation.
June 2024
Hideki MASUI, President
JAIF International Cooperation Center
